As the season grooves on through July, so does the color palette diversity in each box. Vegetables that were planted and tended what seems like only a few weeks ago have in fact been in the field a long time and are now coming to fruition. Patience is the growers motto and our taste buds are enjoying the slow change that comes with summer season. Here is the finest summer box your Ambrosia Farmers could gather.
Seems as though Ambrosia Farmstand is gaining popularity. Last week we planned on getting some basic chores done... think again. Nearly 22 groups showed up to pick on Saturday alone, and completely picked both our Strawberry and Blueberry patches clean! Plus bought nearly all of our cherry tomatoes and salad mix. Thanks to everyone for the support and please tell your friends, best produce in Veneta is just 2 miles south on Territorial Hwy.
Has anyone noticed the daylight fading on us lately… Just as summer crops roll in and fall transplanting is underway, we start to feel a reprieve from the grip of the growing season. During CSA drop off we tend to be the ever convincing farmer, talking mainly about how well everything is growing and expressing gratitude for our members. What we rarely share is that farming consumes almost our entire life from early March through November. We work hard for a living and our down time is that much more appreciated. This past week I (Brandon) and Andréa’s son, Asam, went to Smith Rock with my Dad to enjoy some much needed rock climbing and family connection. Here’s to rest and relaxation… Now time to get back to work : )
For those of you who would like to consider enjoying our produce all the way through Thanksgiving plus a bonus box just a few days before Christmas, please check our Extended Season CSA. For only $125 you will receive a total of 6 boxes with all sorts of fall goodness. Membership is limited to 40 people and signing up well in advance is HIGHLY recommended. I know... here we are in the middle of summer and already planning for fall/winter. Such is the farmer way. Also drop by the farm for U-Pick if you have the time. Strawberries keep coming and we are happily accepting pre-orders. Please eat well, be good to one another, and enjoy your week everyone.
