Given the drought situation Oregon was in last year, the rain in a welcomed blessings. The mountains are getting plenty snow and life is looking green again in the valley. So far for the month of February, we've been busy setting up the prop house and sowing seeds, pruning blueberries, planting strawberries and general farm organizing. Our Certified Naturally Grown inspection is complete and next on the list is cleaning up the raspberry patch.
We are looking forward to attending the Oregon State Small Farm Conference in Corvallis tomorrow and attending a variety of workshops including dry farming, soil health, and food safety standards to name just a few. Curious about the new regulations Oregon is enforcing regarding black leg in brassica plants. Sounds like brassica seed needs to be sterilized in boiled water from here on out to prevent the spread of the disease. Hoping someone at the conference will have some insight into this matter.
